When the rotating disk in an
encoder contacts the sensor (optical
or
magnetic/magnetoresistive), it damages or destroys
the sensor. Sensor crashes can be caused by excessive vibration,
shaft runout, or alignment problems in encoder mounting. Avtron encoders feature
